Our Founding Supporter
We would like to give special thanks to Liquid Icons Productions for their constant support of the Gérard Basset Foundation since our founding in 2021, and their partnership in creating The Golden Vines Scholarships.
Co-Founded by Lewis Chester DipWSET, a dear friend of our namesake and fellow Co-Founder Gérard Basset OBE MS MW, and entrepreneur Alexander Lushnikov, Liquid Icons has since 2021 organised the annual Golden Vines® Awards, recognising and celebrating the world’s greatest wines and spirits.
As a part of these amazing Awards, for the last 3 years Liquid Icons has organised simultaneously an annual Golden Vines® Charity Auction, the proceeds of which are donated in their entirety to the Gérard Basset Foundation and which enable us to do our work of making the wine, spirits and hospitality industries more accessible and more inclusive through our Grantee and Scholarship Programmes.
Without the support of Liquid Icons, and in particular the hard work of Lewis Chester and Alexander Lushnikov, who were both instrumental in setting up the Gérard Basset Foundation as Co-Founding Partners and who enabled us to begin delivering on our mandate, we would not have been able to have supported the 1,600 beneficiaries that we have so far.

One of the best parts of our industry is the relationships we build along the way. Friendships are made which endure as our paths cross, uncross, and then cross again.
Amanda Thomson, CEO and Founder of B Corp-certified Thomson & Scott (@thomsonandscott ), creator of the non-alcoholic wine portfolio NOUGHTY (@noughtyaf ), is one such friend who we made during her time being mentored as a sommelier by Gérard Basset at Hotel TerraVina.
We are therefore thrilled to share that Thomson & Scott have chosen to partner with us and support our grantee programme!
We are grateful for their belief in our work, which opens doors within our industry for hard-working and talented beneficiaries the world over.
Thank you Thomson & Scott, we are delighted to see the success of NOUGHTY and to once again be working with Amanda.
We look forward to making a difference together!Learn more about Thomson & Scott

Champagne Laurent-Perrier has partnered with the Gérard Basset Foundation to create a brand new scholarship programme.
The Laurent-Perrier Champagne Scholarships offer 10 winners the opportunity to undertake the renowned Wine Scholar Guild Champagne Masters course - the most up-to-date and comprehensive certification available on the wines of Champagne, taught by industry-recognised experts in the field.
Alongside this course, Scholars will also undertake a full day masterclass in Sales & Negotiation, developing and refining essential skills in both the on- and off-trade sectors of the wine industry and putting into practice the product knowledge they have gained.
Laurent-Perrier will also host a tutored tasting session with the winners. This provides a chance for them to fully understand how the Champagnes are crafted and allows them to work on and improve their tasting techniques.
Founded in 1812, the House of Laurent-Perrier has been defined by its pioneering role in innovating champagne throughout its history. Its innovation is rooted in unique savoir-faire, passed down through generations. Internationally recognised as one of the foremost names in Champagne, its success can be attributed to a deliberate policy of challenging conventional techniques while honouring traditional values, a passion for quality and, above all, respect for nature and the terroir (the natural environment in which the grapes are grown).
The Laurent-Perrier portfolio is built around three distinct expressions of its unique savoir-faire. The first is the art of assemblage of reserve wines, exemplified by Grand Siècle - a prestige cuvée crafted from three exceptional vintages to recreate the perfect year. The second is the mastery of maceration, an innovative winemaking technique that led to the creation of Cuvée Rosé in 1968. Finally, the House pioneered the non-dosé (zero dosage) style with the launch of Ultra Brut in 1981, a visionary approach that continues today with Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature.
The success of this independent family-led House is attributed to the energy of the de Nonancourt family, headed by the late Bernard de Nonancourt, who assumed control in 1948. Bernard preserved the independence of his champagne House and its values. These same principles guide the current management team led by his daughters Alexandra Pereyre de Nonancourt and Stéphanie Meneux de Nonancourt and his granddaughter Lucie Pereyre de Nonancourt.
In 2024 Laurent-Perrier was the first champagne House to be bestowed the prestigious Royal Warrant by His Majesty The King Charles III, signifying the brand’s esteemed status as a purveyor of champagne to the Royal Household.
