Jai Singh

Jai is a sommelier, working in Italy. Jai’s future from a young age was guided towards a job within the governmental institutions of India: secure, certainly, but not where his passion lay. In 2004, Jai took the plunge and enrolled on a BSc in Hotel Management and Tourism. Following graduation, he worked as a waiter in New Dehli, before moving to London to pursue further studies. In one of life’s twists of fate, Jai met his Italian wife while in London, and in 2016 they moved back to her hometown in Puglia. It was here that Jai fell in love a second time; this time, with wine. His path determined, he set out upon a number of wine courses, learning as much as he could. Jai’s ambition is to change the unfavourable narrative surrounding alcohol in his home state of Uttar Pradesh/Uttarakhand through education, and also to eventually found his own winery in the foothills of the Himalayas, exploring the terroir of the Ganges’ River banks.
