Jeanne Peixian Qiao

Jeanne Peixian is a wine journalist and professional based in France, writing on international wine and spirits news. Born to a family of Baiju distillers in Sichuan, Jeanne has worked full time in the industry for the past 12 years. Inspired by “the legendary story of Cîteaux and their remarkable work in Burgundy”, Jeanne first came to France in 2011. Beginning by studying law at the University of Burgundy (as this course allowed her to benefit from an exchange program), she started to work for a wine merchant, tasting wine often and passing her WSET Levels 2 and 3. In 2014, Jeanne Peixian joined the Chinese national team for the Revue du Vin de France Blind Tasting Championship, in which they came a very respectable 6th place. After a time working as a sommelier at Philippe Faure-Brac’s ‘Bistrot du Sommelier’ in Paris, Jeanne decided to become a wine critic, beginning to write for the Revue du Vin de France. However, she has faced push back due to the unjustified perception that she is merely “a Chinese girl talking about wines and spirits for the French public”. Undeterred by this, Jeanne Peixian continues her writing and consultancy in the wine space, with a particular focus on the Chinese wine and spirits community in France.
