Olufikayo (‘Fikayo’) is a Nigerian wine professional living in London, working as a Private Client Manager at Moët Hennessy. For Fikayo, wine is defined by “the idiosyncrasy within the glass”, the rich aromas therein bringing to mind “Soursop, Yuka and Kola Nut, African cherry”, scents of her upbringing in Nigeria. Originally studying to be a pharmacist, Fikayo transitioned to the wine world, working first at Sketch in London, before becoming a sommelier at 67 Pall Mall. A great believer that improving diversity and inclusion can bring innumerable benefits and achievements to the world of wine, Fikayo is an active participant in and orchestrator of conversations surrounding these topics. Fikayo wishes to make wine more accessible and culturally relevant, through projects such as developing a distinctly African tasting lexicon, and exploring how fine wine can be paired with the many traditional cuisines of Africa.
