Sera Svitlana Karamshuk

Sera Svitlana Karamshuk’s journey into wine began with a PhD in Chemistry. Her interest in science eventually led to her dipping her toes into food, which sparked a curiosity about hospitality… which ultimately led to her discovering wine. The discipline which her PhD taught her has proven very helpful to Karamshuk in her capacity as a wine professional – last year, she completed her WSET Diploma in Wine in half the time of the average candidate.

As well as having an eye for science, Karamshuk has a creative side which she displays on her wine-focused Instagram blog. With a 13K following, Karamshuk draws on her experience as an educator at the WSET School in London to help her followers “excel in wine education”. She believes that the wine world needs evolve its form of communication and be more inclusive, something she hopes to contribute to through her Instagram content.

Karamshuk also serves as a Ukrainian Wine Ambassador in the UK, a role which allows her to organise tastings and educational events for trade professionals and consumers alike. She aims to use the skills from the Master of Wine programme to “transform how wine is taught and communicated to new generations”.
